SHAH ALAM, July 10 — The state government is conducting a study for its IoT Enabled Industrial Park (IEIP) to assess the actual needs of advanced industries, particularly in meeting technical and technological requirements.
State executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said this is necessary to determine if Selangor can accommodate more advanced companies and factories.
Further enhancements are needed to ensure the state is ready to meet the highly technical demands of investors wishing to establish a foothold in Malaysia.

“The study is necessary to ensure that Selangor has the technology to meet their demands.
“Take internet connectivity as an example. We have to consider requirements based on factors such as latency and other technicalities if they (companies), for instance, wish to set up a gigafactory here,” he said.
Fahmi was delivering his wind-up speech for the First Selangor Plan’s (RS-1) Mid-Term Review during the State Legislative Assembly session today.
The IEIP, a rebranding of the state’s industrial broadband project, previously known as Jalin, is listed as one of several high-potential initiatives under the RS-1.
The park aims to ensure industrial areas in Selangor are equipped with telecommunications infrastructure and Internet facilities.
The councillor added that the IEIP study includes potential investors and manufacturing companies, both domestic and international, to identify specific 5G technical requirements necessary to establish their operations in Selangor.
Local technology providers are also being explored to meet these requirements if international investors agree to provide their capital.
