KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 — The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has inked a letter of intent (LOI) with leading fabless semiconductor manufacturer Weeroc to advance Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.
Through the partnership, it aims to support Weeroc’s operational launch in Malaysia and provide facilities at the Selangor Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Park located within the Puchong Financial Corporate Centre.
The collaboration with the French-based firm is also expected to stimulate economic growth and technological advancement in the region, creating mutual benefits and success.
“The LOI signing, held during the First Series of the Selangor International Business Summit 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, marks the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at fostering innovation and economic growth in Selangor and beyond.
“Selangor recognises Weeroc’s potential in the fabless semiconductor industry, particularly in precision-analog and radiation-hardened IC design for aerospace and photo-detection sectors,” Sidec said in a statement today following the signing ceremony.
Sidec was represented by its chief executive officer (CEO) Yong Kai Ping while Weeroc was represented by chief technology officer Salleh Ahmad.
The ceremony was witnessed by Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari; state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, and Invest Selangor CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.
