SHAH ALAM, July 26 — Water supply in all areas in the Klang Valley that were affected by a water cut following an odour pollution incident has fully recovered at midnight.
In a brief statement, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd thanked consumers for their patience and cooperation during the unscheduled water supply disruption since Tuesday.
“Consumers can also obtain information on this unscheduled water supply disruption from time to time through our official communication channels,” it said today.
These channels include Air Selangor’s mobile app and Facebook, Instagram, and X pages. Alternatively, the public can call Air Selangor’s call centre at 15300.
On Tuesday, it was reported that seven regions in the Klang Valley have been hit by an unscheduled water cut due to odour pollution Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.
This resulted in the temporary closure of four water treatment plants (WTPs), namely the Rantau Panjang WTP and Sungai Selangor Phases 1, 2, and 3 WTPs.
The areas affected were Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.
Following the incident, state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said that the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) has launched an investigation against the factory responsible for the pollution.
The probe is conducted in accordance with Section 79(1) of the Luas Enactment 1999, which carries a fine of between RM200,000 and RM1 million and imprisonment of not more than three years.
