AMPANG JAYA, Aug 12 — All 12 traders at Medan Selera AU5 Lembah Keramat, which was destroyed in a fire two weeks ago, will begin operating at a temporary site starting next week.
Hulu Kelang state constituency coordinator Juwairiya Zulkifli said the approval from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has brought relief to the traders.
Her team and MPAJ have engaged and held three dialogue sessions with those affected since the fire.
“I am impressed with MPAJ’s efficiency in managing this matter within two weeks. This matter also caught the attention of Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who kindly provided a RM10,000 contribution to each trader.
“Certainly, the incident was a cause of grief to the traders, since the food court was their source of income. However, they are now allowed to operate at a temporary site next week. I hope this effort marks a new chapter in their lives and businesses,” Juwairiya said.
She was speaking to the press after the disaster relief handover ceremony officiated by Amirudin, who is also the Gombak MP, at Dewan Serbaguna MPAJ AU5 yesterday.
Juwairiya added that she will act as an intermediary between MPAJ and the traders concerning the food court’s reconstruction.
“All parties will work closely together, and I will serve as the middle person between the authorities and the traders, as they are all voters in Hulu Kelang,” she said.
On July 27, 12 stalls at Medan Selera AU5 Lembah Keramat were destroyed in a fire, which damaged an estimated 80 per cent of the premises.
