KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The search for an Indian national who fell into a sinkhole along Jalan Masjid India here resumed today at 9.30am after being halted yesterday at 7pm.
The operation this morning is concentrated on the second sewer manhole at Jalan Melayu and the third at the Jalan Melayu junction.
Yesterday, six sewer manholes around Malayan Mansion, Jalan Masjid India, were opened in stages, after dead-end efforts to locate the victim.
It is understood that today’s operation involves the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Force, Royal Malaysia Police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, and Indah Water Konsortium.
Checks by Bernama showed family members were at the scene from 8am, and the victim’s son, identified as Surya, 26, was briefed about today’s operation.
Media personnel have been at the scene since 8am to cover the third day of the search operation, and most nearby traders had not opened their shops.
The victim, identified as Vijayaletchumy, 48, a tourist from India, fell into the sinkhole after the ground gave way when she was walking in front of Malayan Mansion at 8.22am on Friday.
