SHAH ALAM, Aug 26 — Sixty per cent of companies participating in the upcoming Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) 2024 in October are set to secure business matching opportunities to expand their products.
State executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah said the business matching through memoranda of understanding is expected to generate transactions exceeding RM60 million, an increase of 10 per cent from last year.
“Through the four-day event, Selhac will provide around 80 booths. So far, 50 companies have made reservations, and most of them are small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the state.
“Since the programme is being held alongside the Selangor International Business Summit under the Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage) segment, we expect the number of visitors to increase compared to previous years,” he told Media Selangor.
Fahmi said the third edition of Selhac, themed “Energising the Halal Ecosystem”, will focus on efforts to accelerate halal certification for SMEs, optimise the halal logistics supply chain and foster digital halal innovation.
It will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 16 to 19.
In its maiden event in 2022 held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, Selhac saw the participation of over 200 exhibitors and recorded transactions amounting to RM37.73 million.
Last year, the conference took place at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, targeting a business matching value of RM50 million and attracting over 8,000 visitors.
The six main components featured throughout the conference are business forums, Islamic finance, exhibitions, business matching, halal supply chain and digital marketing.
