Technical study on sinkhole done, DBKL monitoring area — PM

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 30 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Kuala Lumpur City Hall will continue to closely monitor the sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India and its surroundings.

He said a technical study has been conducted on the site.

“I have passed through the area, and there are no issues, but the areas deemed necessary to be reinforced will be done immediately, and DBKL will monitor it closely every day,” he said.

He told reporters this after performing Friday prayers at Masjid Jamek Kubang Semang here today.

On August 23, a tourist from India, identified as G. Vijayalakshmi, 48, fell into an 8m-deep sinkhole while on her way to a nearby temple.

The search for the victim entered its eighth day today.
