SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — Water level in three locations in the Petaling and Klang districts have reached dangerous levels following a heavy rainstorm that hit the Klang Valley earlier today.
According to readings published on the Info Banjir website managed by the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department, the three water stations registering danger levels were Kg Melayu Subang in the Petaling district, as well as Kg Delek and Tugu Keris in Klang as of 5.15pm.
Water levels in Kg Melayu Subang reached 18.18m, while Kg Delek and Tugu Keris recorded 1.52m and 4.41m, respectively.
The danger levels for each station vary based on the specific waterway’s threshold.
According to the Info Banjir website, danger level is described as river level that causes considerable flooding, with evacuation to be initiated.
Three other areas in Klang also reached alert level, indicating significant increase in water levels. They are Bandar Klang, Kg Jawa, and Kg Rantau Panjang.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that no emergency calls had been received regarding flooding due to rising water levels so far.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in seven districts in Selangor — Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, and Kuala Langat — until 6pm today.
