2025 Selangor State Budget: Socso suggests wider housewife benefits

By Fitri Hazim Hazam

SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — The Selangor branch of the Social Security Organisation (Socso) has suggested the state government study steps to widen the Housewives’ Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) under the 2025 Selangor State Budget.

Selangor Socso director Ismail Abi Hashim said the women will receive comprehensive protection if they were involved in accidents or disasters while managing their households, with an RM120 annual contribution.

“To date, 30,800 (women) have registered in Selangor, and this figure must be increased so aid for women, especially for those with lower income, can be distributed.

“Selangor Socso has set a target of 80,000 contributors, but this will take a long time as we must educate the people to understand the need to contribute.

“We hope the state government will back Selangor Socso’s suggestion to widen contributor (status) to individuals who register their businesses with local authorities and women in underprivileged groups such as Orang Asli and asnaf,” he said when met at the 2025 Selangor State Budget dialogue session at the Setia City Convention Centre here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ismail expressed hope that the state will continue the Selangor JobCare Carnival in all nine districts under the budget.

“The state government allocated funds to hold this career fair with cooperation from Selangor Socso. I hope it continues in the 2025 budget.

“This carnival is very helpful for school-leavers and university graduates who need jobs that match their qualifications and skills,” he said.
