VLADIVOSTOK, Sept 5 — BRICS nations are set to discuss the outcomes of the Informal Consultative Framework on World Trade Organisation (WTO) issues at an upcoming summit in October, said Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia chairman Zhou Liqun.
The announcement was made during the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, where leaders focus on enhancing global trade collaboration, reported Sputnik.
In July, BRICS countries agreed to create an informal consultative framework to better coordinate with each other when it comes to the WTO and related issues.
“The BRICS summit will be held in October and many experts will prepare [reports] on what result should be shown already,” he said.
Zhou also hoped the results of the mechanism’s operation would be received as soon as possible.
Russia assumed the rotating presidency of the BRICS group of emerging economies in January. It plans to hold 250 events in 11 Russian regions, culminating in the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan from October 22 to October 24.
The Eastern Economic Forum began on Tuesday (September 4) and will run through to tomorrow. It is being hosted by the Far Eastern Federal University in Russia’s Pacific coast city of Vladivostok. Sputnik is the general information partner of the EEF 2024.
