SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 — The public is now allowed to resume activities at the Section 7 lake following its temporary closure after a saltwater crocodile was spotted in the area recently.
The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) announced this in a notice published on its social media accounts.
“Recreational activities such as jogging and picnicking can now resume as usual at the Section 7 Lake,” it said this morning.
The council also extended its gratitude for the concern shown by the public throughout the lake’s closure.
Last Wednesday (September 4), MBSA said the lake would be temporarily closed daily from 8pm to 7am to allow the Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) to conduct an operation to capture the crocodile that was spotted in the area.
It said the measure was necessary to ensure a quieter environment during the operation and to safeguard public safety.
The 1.68m reptile was successfully captured the same night and was later relocated to the Paya Indah Wetlands in Dengkil for further examination.
Yesterday, Selangor Perhilitan director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh said close monitoring via night vision drones and surveillance confirmed no other crocodiles in the area.
He added that the captured reptile was confirmed to be disease-free and has since been released in the Paya Indah Wetlands.
