Selangor must adapt to current trends to tackle challenges — MB

By Sofia Nasir

SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — The Selangor administration must move dynamically in line with current developments to ensure effective implementation of policies and frameworks, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said failure to keep pace with changing times will hinder the state’s ability to address real challenges faced by the public.

“The most important thing is the trust of the people. If we make wrong decisions, misuse power or engage in corruption, we will lose the trust given by the people.

“Once trust is lost, we become a weak administration, and the society will speak untruths out of fear of being manipulated. Worst of all, we risk making wrong decisions,” he said.

Amirudin made these remarks during his closing speech at the 2025 Selangor State Budget dialogue session at the Setia City Convention Centre here yesterday.

The event was also attended by State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim, as well as top state government officials.

The dialogue session, which involved over 100 stakeholders, was divided into five sectors, namely, revenue sustainability, artificial intelligence, resilience, empowerment and welfare of the people, and housing.

In his speech, Amirudin also said the development of northern Selangor will be a key focus in the upcoming state budget, which will be tabled in November.

“In northern Selangor, we need to plan carefully, as we have already made significant investments there, and we are now seeing progress through the Sabak Bernam Development Area.

“Our focus moving forward is northern Selangor, as I believe it requires a development boost, particularly for Sabak Bernam and its surrounding districts,” he said.
