Shah Alam Lake’s newest resident? Public warned after crocodile sighting

By Selangor Journal Team

SHAH ALAM, Sept 3 — The public has been urged to exercise extra caution when recreating at the lake in Section 7, Shah Alam, following reports of a crocodile sighting in the area.

In a notice, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) said the authorities are currently taking the necessary measures to ensure everyone’s safety.

“MBSA, through the Environmental Health Department and in collaboration with the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), is aware of the matter and is taking further action.

“The public is advised to be cautious while engaging in recreational activities at Shah Alam Lake, Section 7,” it said today.

This is not the first time a crocodile has been spotted at a lake in Shah Alam.

In 2019, a 0.6m hatchling was spotted by public members at the Shah Alam Lake in Section 14 before the Fire and Rescue Department was alerted.
