Two workers killed in landslide at Elmina Ridge construction site

SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — Two workers were killed after being buried in a landslide at the Elmina Ridge construction site here this morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the first victim was retrieved at 11.12am, while the second was recovered at 11.35am. 

He said the department received an emergency call at 10.29am, and that the first fire engine from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene 10 minutes later. 

“The incident involved two victims who were buried under soil and concrete U-box culverts at a depth of 0.3 metres while they were carrying out drainage construction work,” he said in an incident report released earlier today.
