SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) has been instructed to prepare a report on the incident of the collapse of a tributary riverbank of Sungai Kerayong at Taman Lembah Maju in Ampang.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim said a detailed report is urgently needed to enable the state government and the authorities to take further action.
“I have instructed JPS to immediately prepare a detailed report. For now, the area of the incident is closed, and monitoring will continue to be carried out by JPS and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ),” he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Izham visited the scene of the incident in Taman Lembah Maju, where two vehicles were damaged after nearly plunging into the collapsed riverbank.
Following this, MPAJ removed the affected vehicles and said that JPS will carry out repairs to the damaged riverbank.
MPAJ also reminded residents to be prepared for any disasters, especially during the monsoon transition period and the rainy season, which are often accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds.
