SUNGAI BULOH, Oct 10 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today visited the family of the late Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun student who was killed in a road crash yesterday.
Amirudin spent nearly an hour with Ku Adib’s family at Taman Sri Pristana, Saujana Utama, here, talking to the victim’s parents who had just arrived home from Jeddah.
He said checks revealed that Ku Adib, 20, who was a third-semester Diploma in Accounting student, was a recipient of the Yayasan Selangor student aid.
“I had the opportunity to visit the family of the victim of this tragedy at UiTM Dungun. May his family face this with strength.
“Coincidentally, in our checks, he turned out to be a recipient of the Yayasan Selangor student aid. We have lost a jewel of Selangor, and are saddened by this loss,” he told the media when met tonight.
Amirudin also made a personal donation to Ku Adib’s father, Ku Azmi Saad, witnessed by Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.
Also in attendance was The New Straits Times Press Bhd managing director Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman, UiTM lecturers, and over 50 of the victim’s friends.
Earlier, Ku Azmi and his wife, Hafizah Iszahanid, who is also assistant news editor at Berita Harian, touched down from Jeddah at about 5pm to manage the remains of their oldest child.
Both had left for the holy land at 5pm yesterday for umrah, a mere few hours before the incident that killed their only son occurred.
In the crash, Ku Adib died after the motorcycle he was riding with a friend was rammed by an SUV around 7.20pm last night.
Also killed in the crash were Khairil Anwar Jamaludin dan Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin. Their other friend, Muhammad Ammar Danish Mohammad Ridhuan, is seriously injured and is reportedly in stable condition at Dungun Hospital.
Following the incident, the woman who crashed into the boys, who is believed to have mental health issues, was remanded for four days under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
