MBSJ ramps up tree maintenance for safety ahead of monsoon season

SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will continue to maintain high-risk trees at 18 locations within its jurisdiction in preparation for the upcoming northeast monsoon season.

Its mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the initiative is part of MBSJ’s ongoing efforts to reduce the risk of falling trees and protect the safety of residents and road users.

“This includes the zones of Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kinrara, and Seri Kembangan, beginning October and expected to take four months.

“The maintenance work involves trimming branches, assessing tree structures, and felling trees identified as high-risk,” he said during the council’s monthly meeting today.

Simultaneously, MBSJ will continuously monitor the on-site maintenance work and manage traffic flow in the affected areas throughout the project’s duration.

“The monsoon transition weather conditions may lead to flash floods, fallen trees, and damage to unstable structures.

“Road users are advised to be cautious when travelling through the areas,” Amirul said.

Meanwhile, in collaboration with the Petaling District Health Office (PKD), MBSJ is conducting larval control activities to control the dengue outbreak.

One hotspot has been identified at the Seri Mutiara Apartment in Putra Heights, while two uncontrolled outbreak areas have been reported in Taman Bukit Serdang 9 and Batu 3, covering Jalan Intan, Jalan Zamrud, Jalan Belian, and Jalan Permata.

“MBSJ, in collaboration with PKD Petaling, also inspected mosquito breeding sites and conducted fogging activities in the affected areas.

“Residents are advised to seek immediate treatment at health facilities if they experience symptoms of dengue fever,” he said.

Amirul added that 6,927 cases of dengue fever were recorded in Subang Jaya during the 41st Epidemiological Week.
