AMPANG JAYA, Oct 13 — The construction of water treatment plants are monitored to ensure the facilities are completed on schedule, said Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.
He said each project is monitored carefully as they are for the people’s benefit, adding that these projects are the responsibility of his ministry and operating firms, as well as state governments.
“We hope all parties involved in the development of this infrastructure give special focus to ensuring the project is completed.
“For example, in Kedah, the completion of a water treatment plant has been pending and the state government has pushed it to a date next year. There must be monitoring to ensure local communities receive appropriate water supply,” he said when met at the Ampang edition of World Rivers Day here today.
Akmal Nasrullah urged the people to look after their local rivers, along with relevant agencies, so water quality can be ensured.
“Various efforts are undertaken by agencies in maintaining rivers, but we want these initiatives to be supported by local communities.
“These efforts must be pursued by all to increase water quality so river ecosystems thrive the way they should, and so clean rivers can become tourist attractions,” he said.
