MPAJ, JPS to repair collapsed riverbank in Ampang

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) will further repair the collapsed riverbank at Taman Lembah Maju, Ampang, near here.

MPAJ said after yesterday’s incident, it deployed a tow truck at around 9pm to remove two vehicles that were teetering at the edge of the cliff after the riverbank collapsed.

“People, especially residents in Ampang, have been urged to be alert and prepared to face disasters, especially during the monsoon transition and the monsoon, which come with heavy rain and strong winds.

“The MPAJ Pantas unit can be contacted at 03-4285 7333 in the event of emergencies or disasters,” said MPAJ in a statement today.

Yesterday, heavy rain in Kuala Lumpur caused damage to two vehicles that nearly fell into a drain when a riverbank collapsed.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said there were no casualties in the 7pm incident.
