SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 — Selangor FC head coach Nidzam Jamil has tendered his resignation, effective today.
It said he requested to step down from leading the Selangor FC first team, which the club will respect.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Nidzam Jamil for his contributions throughout his tenure.
“Under his leadership as Head Coach of the first team, Selangor FC is currently among the league’s top teams, emerged as FA Cup runners-up this season, and holds the top position in Group H for the AFC Champions League Two,” Selangor FC said in a statement.
The club also commended Nidzam for fostering competitive spirit among the players, and his leadership has played a vital role in maintaining the team’s performance thus far.
“The duties of Head Coach for the Selangor FC first team will be undertaken by Abdi Hassan on an interim basis while the club identifies a new Head Coach,” it said, thanking Nidzam for his contributions and commitment to Selangor FC.
The 44-year-old, who served as interim manager for the club, was selected to head the club in March 16 this year.
He previously served as Selangor’s assistant coach to Michael Feichtenbeiner in the 2022 season, before being appointed as interim manager in the same year and returning as assistant coach the following season after the arrival of Tan Cheng Hoe.
In February, Nidzam was announced again as interim coach after Cheng Hoe left the team to coach a club in Thailand.
