KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has ordered the contractor of the J Satine condominium project in Wangsa Maju to cease all construction activities.
It said that an investigation into complaints from nearby residents regarding an explosion at the site on Thursday (November 7) found cracks in the shear walls, columns, and floors of units on the 8th floor and above.
“DBKL has issued a stop-work order under Section 70B(2) of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974, and directed the contractor to take necessary action,” it said in a statement today.
DBKL further instructed the contractor to appoint an independent engineer to inspect the structural integrity of the entire J Satine development, submit a report based on the findings, and carry out rectification work as recommended by the independent engineer.
“The stop-work order will remain in place until the required actions are carried out. The cause of the explosion and structural failure will only be determined once the structural integrity report is submitted to DBKL.
“DBKL is taking the incident seriously and advises the public to refrain from speculations or make unfounded statements, especially on social media,” it said.
