Sultan advises Selangor students in Middle East to study well

By Zareef Muzammil

CAIRO, Nov 6 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has advised university students in the Middle East to study diligently and complete their education with excellence.

His Royal Highness’ advice was conveyed through Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, a few days before the state leader’s arrival for a working visit.

“We wish to see the long-standing tradition of knowledge growth and learning harnessed with great vigour.

“In fact, this matter has reached His Royal Highness the Sultan, who has advised (students) to complete their studies with excellence and to earn valuable experiences diligently,” he said.

Speaking before more than 200 students at the opening of the Middle East Selangor Student Convention at the Intercontinental Hotel, Amirudin also reminded the students involved to not squander the hopes of their parents and families.

He is also hopeful that students will contribute their knowledge and skills to society after completing their studies, particularly in enhancing education, research, and the halal sector in Selangor.

“You will return from Egypt with degrees from Al-Azhar University or other universities in the Middle East. Your perspective will be elevated, and do not disappoint by failing.

“Let us expand our minds with the knowledge of Islam to strengthen related fields,” Amirudin said.

Running from November 5 to November 7, the convention features presentations from 22 speakers from Malaysia, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, addressing current issues, alongside dialogue sessions, public hearings, and forums.

Previously, Amirudin said the convention aims to foster ties between the state government and Selangor students in the Middle East.

He said its organisation is intended to cultivate positive thinking among students as a foundation for strong and sustainable character development.
