SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — Selangor has received an investment of RM440 million from world-leading steel producer Pohang Iron & Steel Company (Posco) since the firm was established in 2008.
State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi in a Facebook post said the South Korean company has opened two factories in Rawang and Port Klang.
“Posco is one of the world’s biggest steel producers and is known for its quality products and latest innovative technologies.
“From 2008 to 2024, Posco’s investment value in Selangor is estimated to be RM440 million,” he said.
On Thursday, he accompanied Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah on a working visit to Pohang Iron & Steel Company headquarters in Gangnam, South Korea.
Also on the visit are Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop and Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris.
Meanwhile, Tengku Amir Shah said Posco’s 16-year presence in Selangor is appreciated and will be supported in its growth and success.
His Highness expressed hope the visit would enhance cooperation and benefit both Selangor and Posco.
Posco also deals in power generation and hydrogen, and its products are used in the automotive, electric and electronic, and construction industries.
