SHAH ALAM, Nov 11 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has given a boat to the Dusun Tua Selangor Disaster Volunteer Association (BSS), ahead of floods expected during the northeast monsoon.

Dusun Tua assemblyman Dato’ Johan Abd Aziz said the boat can be used to facilitate the evacuation of residents and cleanup in flooded areas.

He said the constituency in Hulu Langat is not exempt from flooding.

“Preparation during and after floods are the main focus of me and relevant agencies, including the local community,” he told Media Selangor on Friday.

He also expressed appreciation to Yayasan MBI for its approval of his office’s request for the boat.

Johan added that the BSS squad was established during the devastating 2021 floods, with an asset collection of 13 boats.

“They have basic boat-handling skills (and were) trained by the Civil Defence Force.

“Last month, over 100 volunteers were mobilised to evacuate flash flood victims from Kampung Sungai Serai, Batu 11, to the relief centre at SK Sungai Serai,” he said.
