KLANG, Dec 11 — Selangor FC player Faisal Halim said receiving an award from Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj boosted his spirits after the unfortunate attack against him in May.
Admitting that he was surprised by the award, Faisal said he gained strength to keep doing his best on the field and reach peak condition.
“During the investiture ceremony, His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj advised me to work hard and not give up.
“I have missed out on seven, eight months (of training). This award indeed motivates me to do well with my career. This award is not a title for me to boast about, but gives me strength to return to the Selangor team,” he said.
When met after the investiture ceremony at Istana Alam Shah today, the national player said he received the award two months ago, but could not attend the rehearsal due to his packed schedule.
Speaking about his condition, Faisal, fondly known as Mickey, said he is recovering well though his movement is still limited because of burns on his body.
“I am just waiting for my time to play like normal. I have to play to improve my condition. In terms of movement, there aren’t any issues. I can do it all.
“I accept my condition as this is my fate. I have to be strong to earn a living for my child, wife and family,” he said.
In the May 5 incident, Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on his body after being splashed with acid by an unknown assailant at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.
