Five MACC complaints committee members appointed for 2024-2027 term

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 2 — Five members of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Complaints Committee (JKA) have received their appointment letters to serve on the independent monitoring panel for the 2024-2027 term.

MACC said that their appointments, effective today, were made administratively by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The appointees are chairman Datuk Ruziati Mior Ahamad Ariffin, and members Datuk Noor Aziah Mohd Awal, Adrain Jerome Karuna Devan, Datuk Mohd Rabin Basir, and Datuk Alauddin Sidal.

It said the appointment of JKA members as independent monitors aligned with the provisions of Section 15 of the MACC Act 2009. Their role is to oversee the handling of complaints about non-criminal misconduct involving MACC officers.

“These appointees come from professional backgrounds in various fields and their selection represents recognition of their abilities, expertise and integrity.

“The MACC hopes this appointment will strengthen and reinforce the committee in carrying out its functions, and assist the commission in improving its systems and work procedures,” MACC said in a statement today.

The JKA is one of five independent oversight panels of the MACC, apart from the Special Committee on Corruption, the Corruption Prevention Advisory Board, the Consultation and Prevention of Corruption Panel, and the Operations Evaluation Panel.
