SUBANG JAYA, Dec 10 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, aims to achieve RM8 billion in revenue by 2028 through a transformative initiative centred on sustainable strategies.
Its group chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop said the goal will be pursued using three main thrusts: strategic investments, capacity building, and a focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact.
“Our Transformation Plan 2028, branded as THRIVE28, is our aim to become a leading Selangor investment company, with the goal, God willing, of achieving RM8 billion in revenue by 2028.
“The programme is designed to ensure the funds available in Selangor are maximised for the benefit of the people and the state, while also generating revenue,” he said in his opening remarks at the Sustainability Leadership Forum held at Dorsett Grand Subang here today.
The forum gathers experts who share their insights and explore how industry leaders can drive sustainability and enhance corporate value.
Also present was state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
THRIVE28, an initiative by the state investment arm, aims to make Selangor a smart and sustainable state by 2025, by emphasising economic growth, attracting investments, and creating next-generation jobs through innovative business models and advanced technology.
The programme seeks to position Selangor as a regional powerhouse by promoting collaboration between businesses and government to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for its residents.
Saipolyazan further said that the comprehensive investment framework will strategically prioritise climate-friendly projects, with a focus on renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental technologies.
Meanwhile, on capacity building, Saipolyazan said MBI is prioritising the development of expertise in future-ready fields, including generative artificial intelligence and technical and vocational education training.
“These initiatives equip our workforce and communities to drive sustainable innovation effectively.
“Our ESG impact strategy focuses on generating measurable positive outcomes for both society and the environment,” he stated.
Saipolyazan also said MBI is committed to sustainability through initiatives focused on ESG principles, including promoting renewable energy, improving water resource management, and leveraging technology to address climate change.
On the social front, he said the state agency prioritises education, access to healthcare, poverty eradication, and building sustainability capabilities within its communities.
As for governance, he shared that MBI emphasises regulatory compliance, alignment with global sustainability standards, regular impact assessments, and transparent reporting practices.
