Pahang residents advised to remain vigilant, obey authorities’ orders

KUANTAN, Dec 9 — Pahang residents, especially in flood-prone areas, have been asked to be vigilant and to obey the instructions by authorities to evacuate to relief centres.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said this comes after a Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) alert level warning of heavy rain in seven states, including Pahang, forecasted to occur until Wednesday (December 12).

“Prioritise your safety and that of your family by evacuating to relief centres if your home is flooded,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.

MetMalaysia announced that five districts in Pahang, Kuantan, Pekan, Jerantut, Maran, and Rompin, along with Kemaman and Dungun in Terengganu, would have bad weather.

The entire Kelantan and Perlis will receive continuous rain of alert levels in the same period, as well as Hulu Perak in Perak, and the areas of Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, and Baling in Kedah.

Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera in Pahang; Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, and Marang), as well as Johor (Segamat, Mersing, and Kota Tinggi) will also see inclement conditions.
