SHAH ALAM, Dec 13—The annual Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2024 has set a new record with a total transaction value of RM3.2 billion and close to 30,000 visitors over three days.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the achievement marks the highest recorded figure since the state air show was introduced in 2021 and highlights the event’s pivotal role in shaping the future of the aerospace industry.
He said the fourth edition of the three-day event, held from September 12 to 14, saw an attendance of 29,638 visitors, which surpassed the 25,000 target and represented a substantial leap from the 19,217 visitors recorded last year.
“The event saw a diverse range of participants, including 129 exhibitors, speakers, and visitors from 39 countries.
“Attendees witnessed an impressive display of 40 aircraft, including 31 Malaysian-owned planes and nine international models from India, France, and Singapore, which among the highlights were the Falcon 8X, Dornier 228, Honda HA-420, HondaJet, and Diamond aircraft series,” he said during a SAS 2024 post-report press conference at Mardhiyyah Hotel & Suites here today.
Ng said a major achievement of SAS 2024 was the signing of 41 memoranda of understanding (MOUs), nearly double from the 28 agreements signed during the third series last year.
He said the MOUs span various strategic areas, including the development of Selangor Aero Park, advancements in sustainable aviation fuel, electric aviation, workforce training, aerospace research, and expanded maintenance, repair, and operations capabilities.
“These agreements reflect collaborations between local companies and international entities from Singapore, China, the Czech Republic and Thailand, underscoring the event’s growing global reach.
“Its growing influence highlights Selangor’s efforts to establish itself as a key regional trade hub in Asean, supporting both established industries and emerging sectors,” he said.
Ng said the collaboration with the Social Security Organisation during the career fair, held in conjunction with the aviation show, featured 37 leading aviation and aerospace companies, which resulted in 222 jobseekers successfully securing employment.
He said this reflects the event’s impactful contribution to workforce development.
Meanwhile, Ng said Selangor has continued to position itself as the nation’s top investment destination by logging RM66.8 billion in approved investments as of September, which exceeded its RM50 billion investment target for 2024.
“This achievement positions Selangor as the top investment destination in the nation,” he said.
The investment breakdown includes RM15 billion in the manufacturing sector, RM51.7 billion in services, and RM38.7 billion in the primary sector, reflecting the state’s robust economic growth and diverse investment portfolio.
