SEMENYIH, Jan 20 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today called on the community to exercise respect and compassion for people with disabilities.
After launching the National Heart Institute’s Ride 4 Your Heart here this morning, Amirudin greeted #bikeisable Anak Syurga Luar Biasa founder Wira Sudepja Rabu, the latter’s wife Murni Dona, and their special needs child Nur Wadihan, who has cerebral palsy.
In a social media post, Amirudin expressed admiration for the parents’ inspiring support of Nur Wadihan, who has never used her disability as an excuse to avoid leisure activities, and recalled his previous meeting with the family at last year’s Rawang Bypass Half Marathon.
“Amid the polemics around a recent incident involving a disabled person in Kemaman, I think it is important for us all to always be compassionate for this special group … to shape a loving community whose members help each other, especially those who need it most,” he said.
Quoting the Prophet Muhammad on the virtue of caring for others as one cares for oneself, Amirudin said he prays for Wira Sudepja, Murni, and all parents to be given strength and perseverance in raising their “children from heaven”.
“The state government will continue to help and support these noble endeavours, God willing,” he added.
