SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — Selangor continues to set an example as a leading state in expanding technology and innovation-based initiatives to support Malaysia’s economic development.
Sinar Harian quoted Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as saying that among Selangor’s strategic measures is the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Trailblazers Programme.
He said the state is collaborating with Google to develop AI applications, and it has established the Selangor AI Incubator Centre to provide high-quality AI training and education.
“Selangor is also driving growth in the chip industry by developing Semiconductor IC Design Parks in Puchong and Cyberjaya.
“In addition, we are exploring renewable energy potentials through the Payung Solar Farm and the waste-to-energy project,” Amirudin said.
He added that Selangor will continue to lead the wave of future economic advancements, creating significant impacts on Malaysia’s and the global economy through technology and innovation.
During the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget on November 15 last year, Amirudin announced that the state government will propose an AI white paper in the upcoming State Legislative Assembly session, encompassing efforts to enhance the efficiency of government services.
The paper will also address the capacity to audit the technology and explore methods for integrating AI as a complementary tool for the workforce.
