PETALING JAYA, Jan 26 — The state government plans to open up 2,000 Rahmah Madani Sale locations for this year, compared to only 1,400 in 2024.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme, organised by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) in collaboration with the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), consistently receives positive public response.

“The Rahmah Madani Sales are usually conducted alongside the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) initiated by PKPS, with PKPS as our strategic partner.

“This year, we are targeting 2,000 sales events, comprising both fixed and mobile locations. These sales are part of our ongoing efforts to help ease the burden on the people,” he said during a press conference today.

Earlier, Amirudin took time to monitor the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for the Chinese New Year at the NSK Supermarket in Kota Damansara.

Accompanying him were the state executive councillor for consumer affairs Datuk Rizam Ismail and KPDN Selangor director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey.

SHMMP is in effect for nine days, starting yesterday until February 2, covering 15 types of controlled items under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

Among the items included are white pomfret, red chillies, carrots, white radishes, garlic, large white prawns, large red onions, and mustard greens.

During the event, the Menteri Besar praised the high compliance rate among traders, including NSK Supermarket in Kota Damansara, which displayed prices lower than the mandated ceiling.

“Personally, I have not received any reports of price increases. According to KPDN Selangor, there were violations last year, but so far, no records of violations have been reported.

“This demonstrates high compliance among traders,” he said.
