Selangor remains tourism destination of choice

SUNGAI BULOH, Jan 21 — Selangor has maintained its reputation as Malaysia’s main tourism destination, with its myriad attractions that appeal to travellers of all ages and backgrounds.

The state is highly suited for tourism as it has a rich cultural heritage and natural features.

The following are some views from the community about tourism in Selangor, and what can be improved during Visit Selangor Year 2025.

Mohd Zakwan Abdullah Hashim.

“I do love going to Sekinchan; with its peaceful, refreshing rural atmosphere and sprawling green padi fields, in addition to a village in the middle of the ricefields.

“Sekinchan is also a suitable place for those wanting to flee the bustling city as they can relax and enjoy nature,” said Mohd Zakwan Abdullah Hashim, 32, a private sector worker.

Shahril Cheah.

Shahril Cheah, 37, also a private sector employee, said: “I suggest that those looking to travel in Selangor to visit Pantai Bagan Lalang, Sekinchan, and Kuala Selangor, as these three locations are suited to those who want to spend a leisurely weekend with family.

“For instance, in Kuala Selangor, a popular tourism destination is a mangrove swamp where you can see fireflies, offering an extraordinary experience for visitors.

“The Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign is set to drive the local economy and benefit surrounding areas.”

Nik Muhamad Anas Kamarudin.

Nik Muhamad Anas Kamarudin, 34, a private sector worker, said: “I choose to spend time with family by visiting shopping malls like Elmina Lakeside Mall as the building was designed with an open concept.

“Many attractions are on offer for visitors, including lakes, leisure spots, and playgrounds that are suitable for children.

“From an infrastructure standpoint, the Selangor government could increase public transport like buses to ease visitor movement in the area.”
