SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — Selangor aims to expand the Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) Early Education Support Centre to all 12 local authorities in the state.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the collaboration, which is still being discussed, aims to address overcrowding at the existing centres.

“The current AnIS centres can accommodate around 120 students, but there are 600 applicants seeking admission.

“Intervention requires space; we cannot simply fulfil demand by overcrowding the existing centres as there are specific regulations that must be adhered to,” she said.

Speaking to Media Selangor after visiting students at the AnIS Preschool Centre in Section 7 yesterday, Anfaal said she also plans to introduce mobile intervention centres to facilitate access to AnIS assistance.

“This year, we plan to establish mobile intervention centres so the programme can reach those living in suburban areas, and we will review the existing budget to initiate this plan,” she said.

AnIS centres are an initiative provided by the state government to ensure that special needs children needs have access to educational opportunities and facilities.

In November last year, the 2025 Selangor Budget allocated RM2.3 million to continue the Iltizam Anak Istimewa Selangor programme.
