KUALA LANGAT, Jan 13 — The state grant for tourism industry players to develop new products will be disbursed at the end of this month, said newly appointed Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling.
She said the RM200,000 grant will be channelled to 20 tourism associations as a further means of boosting activities in tandem with Visit Selangor Year 2025 (VSY).
“Every industry player will receive an incentive worth RM10,000 each for them to develop new interesting products that will attract both domestic and international tourists.
“The grant will even be expanded to a second round and open to non-governmental organisation,’’ she said after the launching of a newly painted mural in Kampung Baru Jenjanrom, here yesterday.
Last November, state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim announced that the state government had approved RM200,000 in tourism grants for industry players to develop new tourism products in conjunction with VSY 2025.
He said the grant aims to help local tourism industry players and further boost the industry, which has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Chua, who was former Kuala Sepetang state assemblyman, was appointed the new Tourism Selangor head on January 9.
She succeeds Azrul Shah Mohamad, who had served as the state tourism agency’s chief executive officer for five years from January 2020.
