KUALA LANGAT, Jan 12 — Local communities, especially in new villages, have been encouraged to beautify their villages to draw visitors during Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025.
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the firm encourages communities not to just depend on tourism agencies to boost the travel industry.
“Beautifying efforts and sharing the uniqueness of villages will help increase visitors to Selangor.
“If there are new ideas they want to pursue, they can contact Tourism Selangor for more information,” said Chua when met at a mural launch in Kampung Baru Jenjarom here today.

She said the effort by the Kampung Baru Jenjarom committee to draw a mural at the old Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen temple can draw more tourists.
“Before, if over a million people visited the temple, we are sure that sharing Kampung Jenjarom’s 70 years of history will ensure the (state’s) eight-million-visitor target can be achieved.
“Thus, I am urging industry players and local communities to produce various tourism products,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jenjarom Culture Association leader Ang Soon Beng said many other attractions are available for visitors.
“We have the Ban Siew Keng temple, traditional food, and the multiracial community’s harmony, even if the majority are Chinese,” Ang said.
VSY2025 is set to draw eight million domestic and foreign tourists, with a receipt collection target of RM11.7 billion.
With over 60 programmes and promotional events, Tourism Selangor emphasises several segments including eco-tourism, agro-tourism, and arts and culture.
