PETALING JAYA, Jan 16 — The Visit Selangor Year 2025 calendar is set to be enlivened with the organisation of two international golf tournaments at the Seri Selangor Golf Club.

The events will kick off with the Selangor International Junior Golf Championship, starting today until Saturday (January 18), followed by the PKNS Selangor Masters from January 22 to January 25.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he hopes the two tournaments will attract more tourists to Selangor.

“These golf tournaments are part of the Visit Selangor Year 2025 calendar. I have been informed of a significant increase in tourist numbers, and I believe these events are among the initiatives to draw more visitors.

“These tournaments also demonstrate that we are not only hosting international-level competitions but also supporting development programmes to nurture future players,” he said during a press conference yesterday.

Earlier, he officiated the launch of the Selangor International Junior Golf Championship and the PKNS Selangor Masters, accompanied by State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim and Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas.

The 4th Selangor International Junior Golf Championship will feature 127 participants aged 12 to 18 from 14 countries, including Australia, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea.

Meanwhile, the 12th edition of the PKNS Selangor Masters will see 144 local and international professional golfers competing for a prize of US$ 200,000 (RM899,000).
