MBSJ FC win women’s league title after trouncing UiTM United Lioness 3-0

SUBANG JAYA, June 10 – MBSJ FC successfully defended its FAS Women’s Super League title after defeating UiTM United Lioness 3-0 in the final at Arena MBSJ here last night.

In the first half, Lee Xin Yi scored the first goal in the 25th minute, and Waitie Taming and Intan Sarah each added goals in the 32nd and 34th minutes.

Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah graced the event and presented the prizes.

MBSJ FC took home a cash prize of RM10,000 and the championship trophy, while UiTM United Lioness received RM7,000 and medals.

MBSJ FC coach Mohd Fairuz Mohd Noor attributed the team’s success to the high level of commitment the players showed throughout the tournament.

Fairuz is aiming for his team to represent Selangor in the Tun Sharifah Rodziah (TSR) Cup this season.

“It is an indescribable feeling to retain the championship. I am proud of the players who gave their utmost commitment.

“I hope our dream to compete in the TSR becomes a reality, as discussions with the management about joining the tournament have been positive,” he said when met after the match.

Team captain Steffi Sarge Kaur expressed her pride in leading the team to consecutive championship titles.

“We deserved to win, dominating the game throughout. The three keys to our success are teamwork, discipline, and the players’ 200 per cent commitment,” she said.

Earlier, in the FAS 2024 Confederation Cup final, held at the same venue, SA United defeated Real CJ 1-0.

The following are recipients of the tournament awards, presented by Tengku Amir Shah:

  • Golden Boot Award – Intan Sarah: 19 goals (MBSJ FC)
  • Most Valuable Player Award – Intan Sarah (MBSJ FC)
  • Golden Glove Award – Amyra Fariesha: Five clean sheets (SSS Leopard)
