4 damaged undersea cables disrupt internet speed

KUALA LUMPUR, SEP 5: A strong typhoon in Hong Kong has damaged four main cables connecting Southeast Asia to America, further disrupting the internet speed in Malaysia, reported ASTRO AWANI.
According to a technology site, the affected cables – ASE (Asia Submarine-cable Express), Asia-American Gateway (AAG), TGA-Intra Asia (TGA-IA), and SEA-ME-WE3 (SMW3) – will take roughly six weeks to be repaired.
It stated that it is difficult to repair submarine cables as the work depends on a ship’s availability, weather and work-permit.
