Oxford title withdrawn, portrait removed

BRITAIN, OCT 5: The ‘Freedom of Oxford’ title, bestowed on Myanmar State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi has been withdrawn.
Oxford’s Mayor, Bob Price said Miss Suu Kyi did not ‘voice out enough’ against the atrocities on the Rohingya ethnic in Myanmar, reported Telegraph.
The title was given to her in 1997 when she was still under political arrest by the Myanmar military.
Meanwhile, St Hugh’s University College had also removed her portrait which was hanged at the university’s entrance since 1999.
Her portrait had belonged to her late husband, Michael Aris, who, like her, had also studied in that university.
St Hugh’s however did not give any reason for removing her portrait.
