“Several current inventions under SSDU is planned to be brought to other ASEAN cities next year.

“This is timely as we were recently awarded the Best Practices Award under the 2019 Emerging Southeast Asia Smart City Governance Agency of the Year category by global consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.

“The state government had successfully created an entity that consists of local experts who brought forward something of value at both the national and global level,” he told in an interview with Selangor Kini here today.

Dr Fahmi said SSDU is expected to receive an additional allocation in the 2020 budget to the RM10 million funds announced in the last Selangor budget.

“We will implement several more initiatives that would bring positive impact to the public and ensure Selangor becomes a resilient state while creating a new economic ecosystem that is more competitive,” he said.

SSDU is a subsidiary of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) that was given the mandate to lead the development of the Smart Selangor programme, which is an aspiration to make Selangor become Southeast Asia’s premier smart state, leveraging on smart technology and innovations.

There are 60 initiatives developed under 12 domains of the Smart Selangor programmes, which includes governance, waste management, digital infrastructure, transport and mobility, and education.
