SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) will serve as a check and balance for the Selangor administration, said opposition leader Rizam Ismail.
Rizam, who is the Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman, said he hopes that the committee would continue to operate effectively, especially on issues involving the people of Selangor.
“We applaud Selcat’s role in holding a public hearing to evaluate the effectiveness of the delivery system of local authorities (PBTs), which also includes its performance.
“Selcat would be playing a significant role by calling in relevant parties to clarify some issues arising from PBTs,” he told the media at the Selangor state legislative assembly building, here yesterday.
Selcat will convene on February 20 to evaluate the performance of the PBTs. Seventeen witnesses will be called in to have their statements recorded.
