1.5 million tertiary, Form Six students eligible for RM200 aid

KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — Some 1.5 million Malaysians with active full-time student status and enrolled in higher education institutions in the country as of March 31 will receive a RM200 one-off payment under the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin).

The Finance Ministry, in its list of frequently-asked-questions (FAQ) on the aid, said students eligible for the assistance are those from public and private higher education institutions, polytechnics, community colleges, and Form Six, matriculation, diploma or other equivalent qualifications students, including TVET SKM4 and above.

Malaysians studying abroad, however, are not eligible for the one-off payment, the ministry said.

“If a student considers himself or herself eligible for the one-off aid, then they can contact their respective student enrolment, student affairs or student development units to update documentation or personal details such as copies of their identity card, bank account, handphone number or email,” the FAQ list stated.

The ministry said the payment will be deposited into the students’ bank account from April-end onwards.
