Kajang records 146 cases, highest among townships in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, April 15 — A total of 12 administrative townships in Selangor are categorised as Covid-19 red zones after recording more than 41 positive cases, says the Selangor Health Department (JKNS).

According to the data provided by the state Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Kajang, which comes under the Hulu Langat district, recorded the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases with a total of 146 as of yesterday noon.

“This is followed by Hulu Langat with 142 cases, Damansara (122), Petaling and Klang (118), Bukit Raja (105), Ampang (68), Cheras (53), Hulu Kelang (50), Kapar (49), Dengkil (48) and Batu (43).

“Serendah and Rawang have recorded 27 and 26 cases respectively while 25 other townships are categorised as yellow zones,” JKNS said in a statement on Facebook yesterday.

The townships categorised as yellow zones are Labu with 17 cases, Batang Kali (16), Beranang (13), Kuang (12), 11 cases in Tanjung 12 (1), Jeram (10), Ijok (9), Bagan Narkhoa Omar (8) while Pancang Bedena, Tanjung 12 (2) and Teluk Panglima Garang recorded seven cases respectively.

“Sabak Bernam recorded six cases, Batang Berjuntai (5), Kuala Selangor (3) while Pasir Panjang, Sungai Panjang, Kalumpang and Hulu Yam recorded one case each,” the statement added.

The Health Ministry has set the red zone category for areas with at least 41 Covid-19 positive cases; orange zone (20-40 cases); yellow zone (1-19 cases); and green zone (no case).
