Selangor prepares for extension of control order, says MB

SHAH ALAM, April 8 — The Selangor government has put in place several preliminary preparations should there be an extension of the movement control order (MCO), says Selangor Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the preparation includes ensuring sufficient supplies of basic necessities such as food supply.

“This would depend on the development of Covid-19 cases.

“Necessary steps to curb the infection has to continue. The Federal government could announce a total lockdown but it has to be taken with total responsibility,” he said during a video call interview with Bernama Radio today.

According to Amirudin, the biggest challenges faced by the authority during the MCO was dealing with those who were not prepared, errant and had disobeyed the order.

“We have to be positive and get used to the necessary changes,” he said.

Previously, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry will decide on April 10 on the extension of the MCO after reviewing its collected data.
