10 new Covid-19 cases recorded today, all local transmissions

SHAH ALAM, June 17 — Malaysia sees an increase in 10 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, which involved local infections, pushing the accumulated total to 8,515.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the newly reported local transmissions included three foreigners and seven Malaysians.

Five of the Malaysians infected were registered in Selangor with one case each in Sabah and Sarawak.

“A total of 140 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and discharged from hospital today, which brings the cumulative number of recoveries to 7,873 or 92.5 per cent out of the total figure,” he told a daily Covid-19 briefing in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said no deaths were reported with the death toll remaining at 121, or 1.42 per cent out of the total cases.

He said four patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none requiring respiratory aid.
