KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — The La Liga (Spanish League) will assist the Malaysian Football League (MFL) draft a feasible standard operating procedure (SOP) to ensure the Malaysia League (M-League) can resume soon.
With the Spanish League set to resume its season tomorrow (early Friday morning in Malaysia), Giorgio Pompili Rossi, who led the La Liga delegation to Malaysia, said they were willing to share information in identifying the best SOP, which was crucial to ensuring the M-League’s resumption.
“As a partner, we will help in any way we can. Every regulation issued by La Liga is suited to our country but perhaps there are some things which can be added by MFL to meet the needs of the M-League.
“We can share with the MFL in terms of protocols and SOPs to be used as a benchmark before they resume the M-League. But do bear in mind that each country is different,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the MFL today.
Among the priorities for the La Liga are the security protocols for every match, namely that teams must play without spectators, stadiums are divided into safety zones, safe distancing among players on the reserve bench and, most importantly, post-match press conferences be held via online.
Each official and player must wear protective gear such as masks and maintain personal hygiene at the stadium, said Rossi.
He added that only 250 people would be allowed at any one stadium and they are team officials, players, coaches, match officials, media and security personnel as well as the medical team.
Those involved must use designated lanes, set up to ensure their health and safety, before being allowed into the stadium.
All M-League teams have been allowed to resume training sessions, with strict compliance of the SOP, beginning June 15 and the league is set to restart in September once it gets the government’s approval.
