388 Covid-19 cases detected from eight community screenings — MB

SHAH ALAM, May 12 — A total of 388 positive Covid-19 cases were detected from the free community screenings held in eight state constituencies over the past four days, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said a total of 8,585 individuals were screened in the operations in Kajang, Semenyih, Sungai Ramal, Balakong, Teratai, Dusun Tua, Pandan Indah and Lembah Jaya.

“We are likely to be inactive virus carrier or ‘silent carrier’, and it is our responsibility to take care of the health and lives of those around us, especially high-risk groups such as the elderly.

“During the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Selangor residents are reminded to follow the instructions from the National Security Council (NSC),” he said on Facebook today.

He added that the free Covid-19 community screening will be continued and advised the public to participate in their respective constituencies.

“Download the SELangkah app, press the ‘Health’ button and select ‘Covid-19 Screening’ (Saringan Covid-19),” he added.

The Selangor government is actively conducting the Covid-19 surveillance program through free screening in all 56 state constituencies from May 8 to June 10.

The programme had begun with the free screenings in Kajang and Semenyih on May 8, Sungai Ramal and Balakong (May 9), Teratai and Dusun Tua (May 10), and yesterday it was held at Lembah Jaya and Pandan Indah.

The state government has allocated a total of RM6 million for the free Covid-19 community testing initiative.

The programme targets the involvement of 50,000 residents covering high-density areas and low-income groups.
