SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — A total of 399 schools in the state are involved in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) for teenagers, said Selangor State Health Department Director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman.

He added the schools involved include institutions under the Education Ministry, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) as well as private schools.

“The implementation of PICK for teenagers in Selangor for Form Four and Five students began on September 20, with a total of 148,298 students involved in the programme. Out of the total, some 6,095 were from boarding schools outside the state.

“Since the start of the vaccine programme, a total of 2,529 students have been vaccinated, with all turning up according to their slots and cooperative,” he said yesterday.

Dr Sha’ari said 25 vaccination centres at schools have been opened to ease the vaccination process based on the appointments.

On September 20 the Health Ministry (MOH) aimed to achieve an 80 per cent vaccination rate for teenagers before the academic sessions commence next year.

Its minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry also targeted 60 per cent of the teenagers aged 12 to 17 to be administered with at least one dose of vaccine by November.
