State representatives work hand-in-hand to help flood victims

SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — A group of senior citizens, children and a pregnant lady stranded in floods at Taman Sri Muda were rescued yesterday by boat carrying the state executive councillor for infrastructure.

Apart from assisting with the rescue operation, Izham Hashim who went there with his team also managed to distribute 1,000 food packs to the residents affected by the floods disaster in Section 24 and Taman Sri Muda.

“When I arrived in Taman Sri Muda, a lady asked us to evacuate her father and her two-year-old nephew who have been stranded at home since Saturday.

“While I was helping the lady’s family, I was informed that her neighbour who is heavily pregnant was also stranded at home. Hence I decided to evacuate the pregnant lady from Taman Sri Muda,” he wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze has donated the Covid-19 self-test kits and face mask to the floods victims at Masjid Darul Ehsan temporary relief centre (PPS).

“The standard operating procedures (SOP) here are satisfactory where each individual must be screened first before being placed in PPS.

“The victims’ details were carefully recorded and my service centre, as well as the Resident Representative Council (MPP) Zone 1 under councillor Ken Chia, have donated the self-test kits.

“In addition, my service centre has also contributed some RM5,000 and face masks,” she said.

For Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi, he has taken the initiative to distribute some 150 food packs for dinner and mineral water to Taman Mutiara Bukit Raja residents who were affected by the incident.

“Even though the rain has stopped, the flood water has not fully receded,” he said yesterday.
